Melissa, an incredible wife and mother, treasured daughter, adored sister, loving auntie and the best friend anyone could as for.
Mel was a remarkable woman whose warmth touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her selflessness, thoughtfulness, and kindness were traits that defined her, and they are qualities we all admired and strive to carry forward in her memory.
Mel battled a fight that was never in her favour for four heartbreaking years. Mel was diagnosed with an agressive breast cancer when her daughter was 3 months old and her son was 2 years. Melissa was 28. She displayed undeniable strength and courage, a level of bravery that most of us can't even begin to comprehend. Mel is the type of person to listen and make the time for everyone close to her, even when her time was limited. She was never further than a phone call away. She does everything and anything for anyone and doesn’t expect anything in return. She has a heart of gold and has left a permanent mark in everyone else’s.
Mel was determined to fight for eternity, even being on the strongest chemo available that was called the “red devil” for the awful side effects it left, but she’d do it again and again determined for the love she had for her husband Stephen and kids, Fletcher and Leah.
Stephen was at every single appointment, every single scan, and held Mels hand for hours and hours at a time at every chemo and radiation appointment. Mel and Stephen have an undeniable love and admiration for one another.
Many of you have asked how you can help Stephen and his family during this incredibly difficult time. Although Stephen has never asked for help, nor does he expect any, we would love to offer a way for us to come together and support him and his beautiful children, as they navigate this next chapter of their lives without their beloved Mel.
Any contribution will be deeply appreciated as Stephen organises Mel’s resting place, medical expenses and navigates life going forward. If you’re not in a position to donate, simply sharing this page or keeping them in your thoughts means the world.
On behalf of Stephen, Fletcher and Leah, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and love. It’s in times like these that we realise how much we rely on each other, and we are so grateful for the support of everyone who loved and admired Melissa as much as we did.
