I’m raising funds for Melissa Garnes, my dear friend, after an unthinkable tragedy on September 4, 2026. A pickup truck crashed into Melissa’s apartment and killed her 11-year-old son while he was asleep in his bed. In an instant, Melissa lost her child and her home.

Melissa is a single mother, and she is completely devastated. Right now, she is facing the unbearable pain of burying her young son while also trying to find a new place to live after losing her apartment.

The funds raised will help cover travel expenses, new housing, living expenses while Melissa misses work, and the unexpected costs that come with a tragedy like this.

Update as of 9-6-2026: Missy wanted me to add that a generous person has offered to pay for Emmets funeral. She is so incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love she feels from friends, family and even strangers.

All donations will be transferred to Melissa’s bank account via go fund me as I am in the process of making her the sole beneficiary so she can use all of the proceeds to fund her immediate, as well as long term, financial needs. At her sole discretion.
