Please Help Save Apollo & Pisco!
If you are reading this, I want to thank you in advance for your time and consideration to support me and my two babies, Apollo and Pisco.
Earlier this year Apollo was diagnosed with cancer, and just this past Monday Pisco was rushed to the emergency room due to being jaundiced, not eating, and having liver failure. These sudden health issues with my cats have come at a huge emotional and financial cost. I am a life-long adopter and rescuer of cats, and I currently have four fur babies (Apollo -11, Pisco - 10, Napoleon- 10, and MuMu - 1) that I love with all my heart. I give everything I have to give to my kitties, and I have currently spent $13,000 since March 2021 on vet bills and surgeries needed. I wish I had more, but I am currently running out of financial options to continue the support that Apollo and Pisco desperately need to survive and heal. I know the past year has not been kind to anyone, but I am hopeful that your kind hearts reading this right now may be able to help… every little bit will help save my fur babies’ lives!
Apollo’s Story
His name at the Atlanta Humane Society was Night, but I thought he needed something brighter that matched his personality, so I named him Apollo.
It was love at first sight! I adopted Apollo back in 2010 with his sister Luna, and it was obvious he was such a gentle baby and is extremely sweet! Unfortunately, his sister Luna was diagnosed with FIP and passed away too young - she was almost 3 years old. Apollo and I got through our loss of Luna together, and Apollo has been there for me through the best and worst times of my life for the past 11 years.
Apollo was recently diagnosed with salivary gland carcinoma in his mouth and he underwent 2 surgeries to remove the malignant tumor. We are on the second round of chemo (the first medication was not effective) and we hope this time will work. If not, he is going to need radiology treatment and the price on this is extremely high. I am hoping he will beat this cancer…
I love him so much and thinking about him in pain breaks my heart into pieces. I am committed to doing whatever I can to support him.
I have spent $8,000 so far towards both surgeries and both chemo treatments between March 2021 and now, so this money would help me pay off some of the vet bills I have accumulated.
Pisco’s Story
I adopted Pisco as a two-month-old kitten at the same time as my other kitty, Napoleon, so they’ve been best friends since they were babies. Like with Apollo, it was instant love. I knew in my heart he was supposed to be part of my family.
Pisco is an adorable orange fluff ball with a silly and sassy confidence. He’s a talkative boy and asks for love, attention, and cuddles constantly... along with lots of treats!
However, the last 48 hours have been incredibly difficult and scary. Pisco started puking constantly, yowling in pain, didn’t eat for almost 3 days, and was very lethargic. I had to rush him to the hospital and all these terms were thrown at me: jaundice, bilirubin, liver failure, feeding tube, steroids, antibiotics and so on. He spent 2 overnights in the hospital with 24-hour care and medication. The bills for his treatment came to almost $5,000, so any donation will help me with this incredibly expensive bill.
A diagnosis is still pending for Pisco, but I am hopeful it’s something he can overcome. But from now until the foreseeable future, I have to tube feed him every 6 hours and administer 6 different medicines through his feeding tube. I am so saddened to see him so scared and confused about everything that it is happening to his body. Last night, I slept next to him on the floor to make sure he was comfortable.
Many people have asked why I adopted so many kittens and the answer is simple: I knew that I needed to save as many as I could… and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Although this is a tough choice that has brought on much emotional and financial strife, the LOVE & JOY that these kitties have brought me is worth all of it!
I know I may not reach my goal, but to be honest, any little bit will help me towards making sure Apollo and Pisco are able to live the healthy and happy lives that they deserve! I will do anything I can to save them, so any donation means the world to me. Thank you again for taking the time and consideration!
