On Monday, December 28th, the sparkle in all our lives was dimmed by the passing of Melinda Eastwood. Like many facing hardship and illness this year, Melinda’s battle with COVID-19 brought the unimaginable tragedy to her family and friends. Our hearts will forever be longing for the once glimmering presence that radiated this earth for just over 35 years. Lifted from our lives too soon, her legacy lives on through her beautiful 10-year-old daughter, Amillia (Millie) Joan who we plan to love and cherish for all our years to come. Although Melinda’s shimmer may be dimmed for now, we know it will shine on in our memories. She was caring, humble, loyal, and dedicated to her loved ones. She was a one-of-a-kind human who was always unapologetically herself. While her character was unmatched, her personality always matched her outfits: fun, outgoing and always with a splash of glitter. Should she have her own crest, it would be a dazzling tiara. It was no coincidence that her favorite place in the world was also “The Happiest Place on Earth”—you could always count on her being at Disneyland. Even after working at Disney for a number of years, she continued to magically sprinkle positivity in every situation she encountered. She will forever be missed by all who have ever met her, and especially by those who cherished her as a daughter, sister, mother, family member, or dearest companion.
While there are times in life that are too tragic for words and too hard to bear, that chapter has continued for the Eastwood family as Melinda’s Uncle John (married to Pam’s sister Marigail) suffered from COVID-induced heart attacks and has passed away this week as well. Forced to spend the holidays quarantined in their own homes this year, the entire family continues to battle COVID-19, while grieving for their loved ones in separate households. Melinda’s father, Mike is currently in the hospital fighting to stay alive, so that he may continue to provide the strength and leadership his reeling family desperately needs right now.
Many of you have graciously asked how you can help during this time. While the Eastwood Family has a strong support system through their immediate family and are feeling equipped for the immediate challenges they face financially, we have set up this GoFundMe account to help contribute to the future and long-term education costs of Melinda’s daughter, Millie.
As the organizer of this GoFundMe, I have been Melinda’s dearest and closest friend for over 29 years, her family intertwined with mine our entire lives. This tragedy has been excruciatingly heartbreaking, as we all feel helpless and unable to physically console each other. Their family embodies the kindest, most loving energy and is the most generous in spirit. It has been a privilege to be a part of their inner circle and family over the years. We humbly ask friends, family and all who align with this unspeakable grief to support the Eastwood Family during this critical time. All donations will go directly to the family, to support Millie and her future.
If you are unable to donate, please keep The Eastwood’s in your prayers, and remember that you can still leave messages and comments for family and friends to read and share. When this devastating virus has diminished, we will be able to safely gather to tell our stories, hug, laugh, cry, and remember our sweet, sparkly and absolutely lovable Melinda. A princess in our hearts, she’ll forever be remembered.
