Hi my name is Tracey and I am raising funds for my daughter.

Never in my wildest dreams (nightmares) did I ever think that I would be sitting here writing this for my beautiful, caring, vivacious, warm, loving and resilient daughter Melinda (Mel to her friends and Mim to her family).

Melinda was born a wild child, head strong and tenacious and thank goodness because this tenacity and head strong personality has kept her going over the past months. Melinda was recently diagnosed with an extremely rare Angiosarcoma blood cancer. So rare that it cannot be diagnosed properly until it has spread and at which time the treatment is classed as palliative. This has turned her and her little family’s life upside down. Anyone who knows Melinda knows that she is a fighter who never backs down and who is a generous and caring support to anyone who needs it but now it is her turn and she needs it more than words can express.

Mim has two beautiful little boys Maximus (6 years) and Corey (3 years in February 2023) and her hubby David. Maximus was born with a rare PFFD and requires many surgeries to lengthen his leg over the coming years. Maxi and his journey has been her main focus up until now. Its now a battle to keep her alive for as long as we can just to give her an extra 1 year, 1 month, 1 week, 1 day, 1 hour, 1 minute or 1 second with her babies and with her family.

We were advised by the doctors yesterday (26th October 2022) her Chemotherapy is not working and it must be stopped. Our next hope is that she will enter a clinical trial but of course in true Melinda form, she has a few other complications that must be tackled with radiation therapy before she can enter the trial.

This will mean that she will need to significantly reduce her work hours whilst still covering the costs that they will incur for treatment, medications even petrol to get to appointments, for which there are many, along with the day-to-day costs that a family has. We will also be looking at getting her overseas if there is a possible treatment there when we have exhausted all that is possible in Australia.

For those who have followed Melinda’s journey, you know she uses her hashtag #MELinamillion - and she truly is.

I want to thank all of you for your love and support for Melinda and her family to date. However, we would be most grateful if you could spare any donation to lessen the burden and help Melinda (Mel/Mim) concentrate on getting through this next chapter and surviving this hideous disease.

Sometimes you need the whole town and then some!

Unfortunately, since commencing this Gofundme only a couple of months ago, Mim has had several hospital admissions the last being for 18 days. The surgery we had hoped would be our silver bullet has not gone ahead and we are now just keeping her as comfortable and pain free as possible so she can spend and enjoy precious time with her family - please keep them in your hearts and prayers
