Mel's Summer Residency at Skowhegan

Hello,
My name is Mel Cook. I am a painter who lives and works in Chicago, IL. This summer I have been accepted to Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture, in Skowhegan, Maine, one of the most prestigious artist residencies in the U.S. !!!
Skowhegan is a 9 week intensive residency where artists from all over the country and world will live and create work. The residency includes well established visiting artist faculty who we will be working with residents throughout the residency. Skowhegan begins June 11 and will end August 13 of 2016.

Although, I have received a generous fellowship to attend Skowhegan I still have a considerable amount of expenses and overhead to pay for. This includes my flight, shipping materials to and from Skowhegan, and the remaining amount of tuition. Because of this I started this GoFundMe to help me cover these costs to have a successful and productive residency.
As an emerging artist this is a huge opportunity to make work in an intensive artist community supported by well established faculty and artists. I am excited for the opporunity to spend 9 weeks fully engaged in my practice.

$500 A 16 x 20 in. landscape or still life painting on canvas inspired by my residency.
$1,000 A comissioned painting of whatever you want!!! Any size as long as it fits in my car!!!
