Hello everyone,
My name is Paul and I am a Melbourne-based market gardener setting up this GoFundMe on behalf of my farm neighbour, Remi, and his team at Remi’s Patch. They recently lost their tractor during a lightning storm and are seeking support from the community to raise $10,000 towards buying a replacement.
For anyone unfamiliar, Remi’s Patch is a market garden based in Melbourne’s Keilor Valley. They are a small and passionate team who are dedicated to growing quality, nutritious produce for the local community, using organic and regenerative methods. Many of you will have met Remi and his team at one of the several Melbourne farmers markets that they attend each weekend. They are also proud to sell their produce to some of the region’s finest vendors and food hubs.
While well worth it, market gardening is undeniably tough and unpredictable work. Remi and his team were blindsided by the sudden loss of their tractor, which erupted into flames during a lightning storm late last year. Unfortunately, this loss was not covered by their insurance. They’re not 100% sure if the fire was due to an electrical fault or if the tractor was, indeed, struck by lightning. All they know is that the tractor is sorely missed – it was essentially the work horse of the farm and is crucial to its successful operation. Without a tractor, it is difficult to maintain the required efficiency and productivity to continue thriving as a business.
I am calling upon our shared community of eaters, vendors and growers to help Remi shoulder the unexpected and significant expense of replacing a tractor. $10,000 would help to fund a new tractor, making things a little easier on Remi and his team.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated. If you can please share this with your networks, that would be a great help too.
Thank you for supporting local farmers. Without you, we couldn’t do the work that we love!
