Melbourne Fringe show created by Taiwanese drag artist
Donation protected
Hello, my name is JC the GUY, and I’m a Taiwanese-born, Melbourne-based artist dedicated to blending the rich traditions of Asian culture with the vibrancy of Western pop and drag performance. This year, I am producing a groundbreaking show for the Melbourne Fringe Festival—a fusion of music, dance, and visual art that explores cultural connections in a fresh and exciting way.
To bring this vision to life, I’ve invested everything into traveling back to Taiwan to immerse myself in traditional arts, including Taiwanese embroidery, Ba Jia Jiang dance, and folk cultural crafts. This has been an incredibly transformative journey, and it’s the culmination of my passion for honoring these ancient traditions while creating something modern and innovative.
This show represents my first-ever solo production, where I will present a unique art form that merges remix culture with traditional performance and visual storytelling. Through this fusion, I aim to connect disparate cultural styles, offering audiences a truly one-of-a-kind experience.
However, creating this vision is not without its challenges. I need your support to bring this dream to life. Your contribution will help cover production costs, from costumes and choreography to the cutting-edge technology needed to make this immersive experience unforgettable.
By backing this project, you’re not only supporting an artist—you’re helping to showcase the beauty of cultural fusion and the power of creative expression. Together, we can bring this unique performance to the Melbourne Fringe Festival and beyond.
Thank you for your support.
