MELANIE VARGAS'S HEAVEN BOUND FUND

Melanie Vargas has been a friend to many. She is the mother of three wonderful teenaged children, Steven Jr., ( almost 16), Miracle (15), and Daniel (13). She is the wife of her loving husband, Steven Vargas Sr. Although she came as a transplant to Coalinga, Melanie became a central figure in many ways right here in Coalinga.  

Melanie was heavily involved with Coalinga’s Relay for Life and other cancer awareness events. She has also been active in the elementary schools and appeared as Mrs. Santa Claus and the Easter bunny for several years. Melanie worked as an aide for Coalinga Huron Unified School District. 

Melanie has been a fighter. Although repeated roadblocks prevented her recovery, she fought with good humor and hard work. No matter how she is feeling, she is always trying to help others, even if it is simply to lend a kind word, smile or joke to brighten others’ days. Most recently, Melanie spearheaded a drive which gathered more than a ton of food for Gimme Love, Coalinga’s animal shelter.

After originally believing Melanie’s medical issues were caused by diabetes, doctors realized she has a progressive, undiagnosed blood clotting disorder. 

Melanie has come home to Coalinga to spend her final days in the arms of her loving family, at home, where they are doing an amazing job of taking care of her. Thank you to all of her friends and family who came out on Friday, March 26, to help her celebrate and say goodbye. You have made her feel incredibly special! We are joined in prayer, in memory making, in hope, in seeking peace, and holding each other in love. 

Melanie is currently at home under the care of Hospice. We are deeply appreciative of all funds raised to help care for her in her final days. Funds are also needed to cover her final arrangements. Thank you for caring about our dear friend, Melanie.
