There aren’t any words that can accurately express the depth of my emotions. The thing I feared most in this world has come true. This past Tuesday, 11/29, the love of my life, my wife Melanie Rose Short, passed away in the operating room due to complications with cancer. Melanie and I married this year on March 4, 2022, and had the wedding of our dreams.

As you may know, Melanie had been a cancer thriver for nearly 13 years, potentially many more if you count the unknown number of years she lived with it prior to diagnosis. Her coming into my life is by far the best thing that has ever happened to me. The age-old saying about the love of your life is indeed true. “When you know, you know”. In addition to giving me a love I could have never imagined existed, Melanie has always given me inspiration, hope, happiness, strength, and adventure. Melanie’s smile was the most beautiful and infectious thing I’ve ever seen, and her overall bliss was apparent to all who came in contact with her.

In addition to her love, her sense of adventure, humor, and overall lust for the thrill of life kept her going for many years, overcoming numerous radiation sessions, various treatments, and invasive surgeries including kidney, spine, lung, and brain (twice). None of that stopped her from being the amazing person she was and will continue to always be.

We, her Family, would like to honor Melanie appropriately, and any contributions to help with funeral costs and medical expenses would be greatly appreciated.
