Melanie was a devoted daughter, sister, and mother. To know her, was to know her laughter and giving spirit. She loved the Lord with her heart and soul, and cared deeply for her family and those in need. She helped raise her 3 sisters, sheltered the homeless and fed the hungry. She wasn’t a saint, but she truly knew what it was like to have nothing.
Melanie was multifaceted with gifts, including interior design, hair styling, consignment, and business operations. She loved card games such as bid whist, and tv shows such as family feud, the price is right, and general hospital. Fun fact: no one in the family ever beat her in scrabble or words with friends.
Unfortunately, coming of age in the late 70’s presented its own challenges. Trauma from her childhood deferred Melanie’s dreams and aspirations; as well as her mother’s. In 2014, her mother was tragically murdered and taken from our family all too soon. Melanie struggled with the loss of her mom deeply, and the murder of her mom is still unsolved.
Tragedy, unfortunately, is not foreign to our family. The loss of Melanie will be felt for many generations. Summing up her legacy would be to encourage you all to give, no matter how small, practice showing compassion from the CEO to the homeless, and most importantly, go the distance required to love and honor your family. Melanie was the glue of our family and our hearts break at her untimely departure.
Any funds donated will assist Melanie’s family with payment for her celebration of life. It is more than greatly appreciated for any and every dollar received, as well as all of the love and support showed.
Thank you so much,
Melanie’s Family
