I have never liked asking people for money, but I find myself in need of help. I recently discovered that I have a torn tendon and ligament in my left foot/ankle that needs surgery to repair. I don’t remember one specific thing that happened, but it is probably the culmination of various injuries I’ve had over the years. The last one was when my ankle gave out while I was walking down the aisle, in heels, on grass, at my youngest daughter’s wedding. My doctor says the tendon is shredded and looks like string cheese. He’s hoping to be able to repair it but may have to use a cadaver tendon to fix it. He won’t know until he gets in there.

I have medical insurance, but because I am self-employed as well as working two other jobs part-time (one of which covers part of the time I spend caring for my mom), I’ve had to purchase medical insurance through the government marketplace. It has a very high deductible and this surgery will be more than that total. I will also miss 2 weeks of work as I will be non-weight bearing. Then, probably 3 months of therapy. The costs just keep adding up. I hope to not go into any more debt! I have been struggling to make ends meet but somehow have made it work. This now overwhelms me.
