Mel (Mallory) Schmidt
This GoFundMe is for a memorial/tribute to Mel Schmidt and to help support our family during this emotional time in our lives.
With such immense sadness in my heart, I'm sorry to say that Mel has lost a month-long battle in hospital that lasted almost 4 weeks. Due to circumstances surrounding her death in the hospital, a Coronial investigation is being held, meaning we are unable to set a date for the service as yet.
*** Mel's service will take place on Wednesday 14th May @ 2pm at Tobin Brothers Funerals, Werribee VIC. A livestream link will be made available for those unable to attend in person. ***
I was privileged to have met Mel almost 11 years ago and instantly became a stepfather to her three beautiful children, whilst at the same time, she became a stepmother to my my two beautiful children as well. Almost 9 years ago, we welcomed our own creation into the world which completed our family.
Although Mel had battles with many obscure illnesses and health issues throughout her life, she had come to accept that her life was not going to be one of good health and was at peace with that.
Despite the ongoing health issues, she was known for her bubbly, vibrant, and chatty personality, personified by her bright pink hair that she loved to treat herself with.
Mel's passion for the kids to be happy, healthy and successful was channelled particularly into the the girls with their love of cheerleading, being "that crazy Mum" that would stand up, screaming and cheering in support as the girls would be performing up on stage.
Her love and support for the boys was just as strong, being a mentor and encouraging them to push themselves to their limit and succeed in whatever challenge they were taking on.
It's so unfair that her life has been cut so short, as she had so much more to offer to our family. The children will forever such amazing memories to cherish of their Mum, and it hurts so much to think that Mel won't be around to see them grow up into the amazing adults she will have inspired them to be.
R.I.P. Mel, may you now be in a better place, free from pain, and watching carefully over us. Xoxoxoxoxox
