Mekhai's Summer at Williamstown

Hello! My name is Mekhai Lee. I am a current third year Acting Student at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. I am a driven, and hardworking student with the privilege to study my passion at the school of my dreams. This summer, I've been awarded the amazing opportunity to study as an apprentice at the revered Williamstown Theatre Festival. Williamstown's apprentice program is designed to be a link for acting students such as myself to the professional theatre/acting industry.  Participating in this festival will give me the opportunity to take classes from resident artists who are immersed in the business. Past resident artists have been Bradley Cooper, Renee Fleming, Ginnifer Goodwin, Joe Mantello, Robert DeNiro, Chita Rivera, Theresa Rebeck, Emmy Rossum, and Marisa Tomei. These names represent stars, directors, producers, and writers who are succeeding in this business and wish to make new contacts in the student apprentices. Additionally, apprentices have the opportunity to audition for Festival productions and participate in numerous projects, productions, and special events sponsored by the Festival and directed by the Festival Directing Corps. The Festival goes from June 16, 2017 to August 20, 2017; and for the entire time I will be learning and working alongside experienced artists who share my passion and drive. I'm so excited to be asked to participate this year, and I'd hate to lose out on going because of a lack in funds. Since applying to the program, I've gotten a part-time job as well attending my conservatory and have been working hard at saving money to go, and will continue to save up until I go. However, I need about $3,000 to be able to confirm my going by May 10th. UPDATE: They have extended my deadline until May 15th! This cost represents housing for the program’s full term with a private bedroom, a full meal plan provided by Williams College Dining Services, and all of the professional development workshops. If you can and are willing, I would greatly appreciate any contribution from you!
