Friends and Family,
Last year I was presented with the opportunity to study abroad in Oxford, England. Overjoyed at the chance for me to experience going to school in Europe, my mother helped me as I anxiously filled out the application forms for the program. My excitement for the trip came to a halt when the unexpected happened and our family nearly lost the member we love most. My mother suffered a stroke just a week after we had attended my first orientation meeting together. The day she was admitted into the hospital was the hardest day of my life but my family and I made it through thanks to you. Yes, you. The people who took the time to read and share our Facebook status updates. The nearly 1,500 people around the world who prayed for my mother. She survived a surgery with a 1% success rate thanks to God and all the people who came together to support our family. Now I am asking if you would be willing to support me and this once of a lifetime opportunity I have in front of me.
After my mother was admitted into the hospital I withdrew from the program fearing the uncertainty of the road ahead. Eventually I had to bring up to my parents that I was no longer going to England. We spoke for several hours and decided to pray specifically for God to provide guidance over my life and firmly shut doors I should not go through. I reached out to the program staff to see if it was possible to be accepted back in and was met with a resounding "yes."
I am writing this message to you with the hopes that you will help me raise the funds I need to be apart of the program in just two short weeks. God has comforted me by showing just how much he has healed my mother this past month and how much support my family will have during my time away. I am so blessed to still have this opportunity to study in Oxford where I will be furthering my English Literature degree. Thank you all who have supported my family thus far. I can't wait to share my adventure with you soon!
