Words can not truly express how we feel. Mekayla was in a fatal tragic accident. Mekayla was headed to Lamar College were she just got initiated to the National Honors Society. She was hit head on by an on coming vehicle. She was life flighted and did not make it.

Our hearts ache for the Burns family. It has only been in the past two years that Mekayla was able to reconnect with her father and extended family here in Texas and now we are experiencing the pain of losing her again.

She has grown into a wonderful, loving Christian woman who loved God and her family. She loved being able to spend time with her Texas family and she was such a joy to be around. Mekayla was able to touch so many lives with her outgoing and living heart.

Now she has gained her wings. Our hearts are broken. Please give your loved ones and extra, tight hug today and let them know that you love them. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.
