Support Valerie’s Fight Against Aplastic Anemia
Donation protected
I’m hosting this fundraiser on behalf my dear friend, Valerie Zuyus.
First and foremost I want to thank everyone who has reached out to Valerie and offered so much support during her recent unexpected hospital stays. Our community has already stepped up and helped with taking care of her two beautiful boys, her home and other day-to-day responsibilities and for that, she and her family are very grateful. Many more have reached out to ask what they can do to help.
Valerie’s husband, Chris, has not left her side since this started and luckily his employer has understood the extenuating circumstances. However, the cost of living out of the hospital when you are not the patient can add up quickly. Food, traveling from San Antonio to Corpus Christi and hotel stays will be needed for many more months. Valerie and Chris are balancing her health and caring for their boys. Family visits are restricted and the boys can only see their mama under certain circumstances. Valerie is on the oncology floor where not just anyone is allowed. Some days when her boys are visiting she won’t be able to see them.
Valerie is battling a rare and serious condition, aplastic anemia that has worsened. She is starting an intense treatment course that will take time and has unforeseen medical costs to include hospital stays, blood transfusions and a bone marrow transplant which we pray will be sooner rather than later. While Valerie is a fighter this treatment plan will be costly and the least we can do as her community is to help alleviate some of the financial burden. Due to Valerie’s compromised immune system she will have several more hospital stays and will be apart from her boys. For months. I can’t imagine not being able to hold my babies but I know Valerie is doing everything she can to get well for them in the future. I am turning to you for assistance through this GoFundMe campaign. Your generous contributions will help alleviate the financial burden so Valerie and her family can focus on her battle with this daunting condition. Thank you for your support!
