My friend Mei always leads with love - love for her students, love for her boys, love for her family and friends. For years, this love has had her pinching her pennies, cooking all her meals at home (pandemic helped) and she has saved her money to buy her first home for herself and her two sons. And in this crazy housing market, she is closing on her first condo! The boys will get their own space, she'll have a shorter commute to work (which is a big deal in southern California) and a bit more stability and equity.

In more normal times, I'd be pushing Mei to throw a housewarming party and you could come check it out and bring her pots, candles and new towels. And she would still be shy about letting me do that. But that's not what she really needs. The Inspection showed a need for $2500 of repairs and the previous owners weren't willing to make those changes or adjust the price. So the best housewarming gift is getting all those important things fixed.

Mei would never ask for this. I had to convince her to let me do this for her. But this is a big deal and I know you might want to help her celebrate and ease this big transition (she's moving to a new city, new schools for the boys and they need some new beds too). She's moving in the next 30 days and it would be awesome if the repairs were done before the hectic school year begins for her and the boys (late August).
