Who am I and what am I raising funds for?

Hey! I am Mirya, I am 24 years old and currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Geography at the University of Osnabrück. I have been given the unique opportunity to spend six months in Vietnam through the international development volunteer program weltwärts.

During my stay, I will support nature conservation projects by producing documentary films about endangered animal species, protected areas, and sustainable tourism. Through this work, I aim to make these important initiatives more visible and to raise awareness of Vietnam’s remarkable natural environment.

Why is this cause important to me?

Vietnam is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world. However, many animal and plant species are now listed as endangered. Conservation efforts are urgently needed.

As a geographer, I care deeply about the protection of nature, wildlife, and habitats. Through my documentaries, I want to reach people, inform them, and inspire engagement in nature and biodiversity conservation—both locally and globally.

I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity. At the same time, I know that it is only possible with your support.

How will the donations be used?

The weltwärts volunteer program is funded 75% by public funds. The remaining 25% must be covered by the sending organization, DIZ (German-Indian Cooperation).

As a student receiving BAföG, I am unfortunately unable to cover this amount myself.

All donations will go directly toward financing my volunteer service, including costs for:

• Flights

• Accommodation and meals in Vietnam

• Insurance

• Seminars and preparation

• Work equipment for documentary production

By supporting this fundraiser, you are enabling my volunteer service and indirectly supporting nature conservation work in Vietnam.

How does the organization receive the money?

Donations are collected via GoFundMe and the required amount is then forwarded to DIZ (German-Indian Cooperation). If more funds are raised, I would love to invest in additional equipment, such as a new camera lens or durable outdoor clothing.

DIZ uses the funds exclusively to finance my volunteer service in accordance with the weltwärts program guidelines.

If companies or larger sponsors wish to donate, DIZ can issue a donation receipt for tax purposes upon request.

Wer bin ich und wofür sammle ich Spenden?

Moin! Ich bin Mirya, 24 Jahre alt, studiere Geographie im Master an der Universität Osnabrück und habe die einmalige Chance, für ein halbes Jahr mit dem entwicklungspolitischen Freiwilligendienst „weltwärts“ nach Vietnam zu gehen.

Vor Ort unterstütze ich Projekte im Naturschutz, indem ich Dokumentarfilme über bedrohte Tierarten, Schutzgebiete und nachhaltigen Tourismus produziere. So trage ich dazu bei, diese wertvolle Arbeit sichtbar zu machen und Bewusstsein für die Natur Vietnams zu schaffen.

Warum ist mir dieses Anliegen wichtig?

Vietnam gehört zu den artenreichsten Ländern der Welt – doch viele Tier- und Pflanzenarten stehen inzwischen auf der Roten Liste. Naturschutzarbeit ist dort dringend nötig. Als Geographin liegt mir der Schutz von Umwelt, Tieren und Lebensräumen besonders am Herzen. Mit meinen Dokumentationen möchte ich Menschen erreichen, informieren und motivieren, sich für Natur- und Artenschutz einzusetzen – sowohl vor Ort als auch weltweit.

Für diese große Chance bin ich unglaublich dankbar. Gleichzeitig weiß ich, dass sie nur mit Unterstützung möglich wird.

Wie werden die Spenden verwendet?

Der Freiwilligendienst wird zu 75 % staatlich gefördert. Die restlichen 25 % muss die entsendende Organisation DIZ (Deutsch-Indische Zusammenarbeit) finanzieren.

Da ich als Studentin BAföG beziehe, kann ich diesen Betrag nicht selbst aufbringen.

Jede Spende fließt direkt in meinen Freiwilligendienst, z. B. für:

-Flugkosten

-Unterkunft & Verpflegung in Vietnam

-Versicherungen

-Seminare & Vorbereitung

-Arbeitsmaterial für die Dokumentation

Mit deiner Unterstützung ermöglichst du meinen Einsatz – und unterstützt damit indirekt auch die Naturschutzarbeit in Vietnam.

Wie erhält die Organisation das Geld?

Die Spenden werden über GoFundMe gesammelt und anschließend die benötigte Summe an die DIZ (Deutsch-Indische Zusammenarbeit) weitergeleitet. Sollte mehr Geld gesammelt werden, würde ich mir sehr gern Equipment kaufen, wie z.B. ein neues Kameraobjektiv oder eine Outdoorhose.

Die DIZ nutzt dieses Geld ausschließlich zur Finanzierung meines Freiwilligendienstes, wie es im weltwärts-Programm vorgesehen ist.

Wenn Unternehmen oder größere Förderer spenden möchten, kann die DIZ auf Wunsch eine Spendenbescheinigung für das Finanzamt ausstellen.
