Dear friends and family,
Our sweet baby Meilee had a very rough start at life. Born lifeless on July 26th, 2020 after a very rough labour followed by complete placenta abruption and an emergency C-section, Meilee suffered from Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) which resulted in severe brain damage and seizures. She was transferred to another hospital in Tampa, FL to begin Therapeutic Hypothermia (cooling) for 72 hours. Meilee spent 15 days in NICU fighting for her life before being discharged August 10th, 2020 where we finally took her home to meet her 3 big brothers.
Fast forward 6 months, we’ve had countless doctors visits including Neurologists, Gastroenterologist, Ophthalmologist, Craniofacial surgeons, Chiropractors, Physiotherapist and a Holistic pediatrician to try and help Meilee. We’ve had emergency room visits and overnight stays. Daily therapies including occupational, physical and feeding therapies. After a long search for more answers on Meilee’s condition, our sweet smiling baby girl was diagnosed with Quadriplegic Dyskinetic Cerebral Palsy, Dystonia and very close to being diagnosed with secondary microcephaly. These are heartbreaking diagnosis but we’re not giving up on our baby girl.
After lots of research on the most advanced treatments available to treat children with brain injuries, we have found a few promising ones available to us. Meilee’s treatments will require a significant amount of financial investment. For example, the cost of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is expected to start at $12,000, with Dr. Harsh at the New Orleans School of Medicine. Stem Cell treatments are even more, as they will be ongoing for the foreseeable future. These are just two of the therapies Meilee needs, there is a lot more therapies to be done. We need to give our sweet baby girl a fighting chance at life. The sooner these therapies are implemented, the more effective they are. We don’t have time to waste and cannot give in to some doctors recommendations of just “wait and see”.
We are asking for your help, there are no donations too small. Please help our family during this very difficult time. It truly has been the hardest time in our lives. Meilee deserves a better life, and to beat the odds of her devastating diagnosis. We ask you to keep our family in your prayers and bring healing and strength to Meilee to recoup from this tragic event. She needs all the help she can get.
