About 6 years ago, I came across Meiki’s Craigslist add. He looked just like my childhood dog and I knew I needed to help him. His family kept him crated in their basement for a year because they were “allergic” to him. I picked him up that same day with the intention of fostering him. Before going home, I stopped at my parents’ house to see how he would get along with their 2 dachshunds before bringing him home to my dogs. They loved him and decided to keep him.

Last night, Meiki started dragging his back legs. My parents were able to get him an emergency visit at Red Bank Animal Hospital this morning. He’s already recovering from surgery and should be back home on Wednesday. He had a herniated disk with 85% damage, which was pressing on his spine.
