Hello, my name is Hanibal Ghile. I am the nephew of Meharena Ghebreyesus. Please read the below message from Meharena’s sisters (my mother and aunts):

Last October, our beloved brother, uncle and father, Meharena Ghebreyesus, went missing.

 

After being reported missing, his car was found in a remote area 15 minutes north of Smoky Lake, AB. While RCMP had searched the area where his vehicle was recovered, our family had spoken with everyone he had contacted within the last few days since he was last seen, put up over a hundred missing signs in the surrounding area, and had been in constant communication with EPS/RCMP and cooperating with search authorities.

 

After winter had arrived and brought snow cover, we had to wait until the snow melted and conditions were safe enough to have a search party to look for him. On June 27th, we had a large search party searching for him, but we unfortunately did not find anything.

 

On June 30th, we got a call that he was found nearby in an area that was not in the search perimeter. After missing for over nine months, our family finally got confirmation that we had lost our loved one. We are devastated by Meharena’s passing, and all the hope we had that he was still alive is gone.

 

We are asking for donations to help cover the cost of Meharena’s funeral. Any leftover excess funds will be going towards his children. Any amount you can donate will be greatly appreciated and truly help our family during this difficult time.
