Megan's World Vision Internship

I am very excited to be graduating this spring, from Indiana University, with a degree in Nonprofit Management. I have always wanted to pursue a career that would allow me to work in an organization that is helping others and strives to alleviate poverty.
That said, I am also excited to share with you the amazing opportunity I have been given to spend 10 weeks of my summer, in Los Angeles, California, interning with an organization called World Vision. I will be working as the University Recruiting and Internship Programs Intern. World Vision is one the largest Christian humanitarian aid, development, and advocacy organizations in the world. World Vision works in almost 100 countries using a community development approach that empowers children and families to break the cycle of poverty and reach their God-given potential. Just some of their programs include initiatives to promote: child protection, economic empowerment, disaster relief, gender equality, food security, and much more.
My journey with World Vision started way back in 2012 when I decided to run the Chicago Half Marathon as a part of Team World Vision. I was running to fundraise for a small village that my church supported, located in Rwanda. I can remember learning about what World Vision was doing and feeling like I had to be a part of it. I also had the chance to travel to Rwanda two summers ago. In beautiful Rwanda, I traveled to parts of the country where I was able to see the kinds of the areas and poverty that World Vision is working in to alleviate. Since then, this organization has held a special place in my heart. It is truly an honor and a blessing to be given the opportunity to work with them.
This opportunity will enable me to develop new skills and gain practical experience in my chosen field, all while working for exactly the type of non-profit I see myself working for in the future. Unfortunately, this internship does not pay, offering only a small $250 monthly stipend. This stipend is not enough to cover even a fraction of my expenses while living in one of the most expensive cities in the U.S. While this is an amazing opportunity, I am concerned about being able to afford this experience- especially as a recent college graduate.
To be able to participate in this amazing program, I am hoping to fundraise a total of $4,000. This will help cover my travel to LA, rent, food, gas, and other various living expenses while I am in LA for the summer. If you feel led to give, I would greatly appreciate any financial support. If you cannot support me in this way, please support me with prayers and encouragement as I prepare for this next chapter in life. If you would like to support me financially, you can donate here!
I am so excited for what God has planned for me with World Vision. This is truly my dream position with my dream organization. The thrill of participating in this venture is beyond words. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for your kind consideration!
With excitement & gratitude,
Megan Daly
