Meg's Post Car Wreck Recovery

Hello loving friends and family and community,
Our beloved Meg was a horrible car accident after being struck by a drunk driver. She is ok all things considered and was released from the hospital on Friday evening- but this is far from the end of her healing, recovery, and rebuilding.

Here's a lil summary of her experience:
Early Wednesday morning at 12:05am, Megan was struck by a drunk driver on her driver’s side. Initially, we were so thrilled that she was alive, despite totaling her car. We waited in the Sinai ER for 7 hours for her to be fully assessed and began to think in that time that she must be fine. When she was FINALLY seen, it was determined that her ribs had been broken which then punctured her lung. She had emergency surgery to remove a piece of her ribs from her lung and is currently hooked up to a tube to suck air bubbles from her lungs. If this process does not work to remove this air, she will have to have a more invasive lung surgery. (She didn't need invasive surgery! Hooray!)
As of right now, we do not yet know what the recovery time will be, if she needs to hire a lawyer to seek damages, if and when her car will be replaced, how long she will be without work, and how long the insurance will take to assist her.
The last thing we want Meg to be worried about is finances and, best case scenario, Meg has already used up all of her time off and will now have to be unpaid while she recovers. Worst case scenario, who knows what other financial obstacles will come to fruition? This amount we are asking for is an estimate and it’s really uncertain what exactly her needs are going to be. Initially funds will go to cover the cost of needed medications and her rent/bills.

There are a lot of moving parts as Meg moves forward and she needs support from her community. An accident this traumatic resulting in severe injury takes a toll on both the mind and the body.
Her friends are her family and I hope we can rally for her to help ease any stress we can so she can focus on healing.
