Meg'gan Gaumer's end-of-life costs
Donation protected
Meg'gan, my chosen family, who has been on disability for most of their adult life, is now in multiple-organ failure.
They are currently under hospice care with the end expected to come at any time now, and hospice has advised us that if we want to hold onto their remains, and not have them buried as an indigent, in an unmarked grave, we will need to have the full amount of funeral home costs for direct cremation available when they pass. Due to heart failure, they have gained hundreds of pounds in retained fluids, and this will unfortunately significantly increase their funerary expenses.
It is a shame that an overweight, disabled, non-binary person has so few end-of-life options. If you're able, please help us provide them with more.
Any funds not used for cremation will be used for a small wake, and to compensate the remaining unpaid hours of the in-home support workers who have cared for Meg'gan in their final years.
Thank you
Addendum:
The cover photo is Meg'gan's Facebook profile picture, used for easy recognition of friends & family, no matter what stage of life they originally knew Meg'gan from.
It is a photo Meg'gan took of their cat, Spitfire.
