Meggan and Mike

Hi, my name is Jennifer and I'm fundraising for Meggan Robinson (Bareford) and Mike Bareford.

Mike was diagnosed with liver failure in June of 2022. They worked really hard to manage his health, in hopes that his liver could recover. His health worsened, and in June of 2023, he got a liver transplant. Things looked really good for nearly a month, but on July 12 he was hospitalized because he had clots in the blood vessels to his new liver. His condition worsened, and he was re-transplanted with a second donor liver on August 24. The surgery was very complicated, and he had massive blood loss, to the point that his surgeon wasn’t sure he would make it out of the OR. Since then, he’s been in rough shape. His kidneys have failed, he’s been in septic shock from a blood infection, and now, it appears that his body is rejecting the newest liver. The teams at University of Maryland Medical Center have given him outstanding, thorough, and compassionate care. He might recover, which will be a very long, hard road, and he might not recover. It’s been a heartbreaking journey.

Obviously, Mike has not been able to work for more than a year, Meggan has also not been able to work for some time due to caring for Mike and he has still not been approved for Social Security disability.

Between Medical needs and day to day bills (even on a very tight budget) they have run out of resources.
