I have been accepted to the National Center for Voice and Speech (NCVS) Summer Vocology Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah! The program is a graduate level summer intensive designed for voice professionals and it is run by one of the most respected names in voice pedagogy, Ingo Titze.
Tuition for Block 1: $1266
Airport Shuttle Round Trip: $36
Meal Plan at University of Utah: $560
Public Transportation: $84
Textbooks: $190 - FUNDED
$2,952 - Total Expenses for Summer 2018
Tuition is due by the end of May.
My goal in attending the institute this summer is to build upon the knowledge and skills I learned through my BME and MM degrees in order to become the absolute best voice teacher I can be. Along with continuing to grow as a teacher and better serving my current students, I eventually want to teach on a university voice faculty and this training will be instrumental toward that goal.
(Me with my stage-daughter-turned-voice-student, Elli Grace after one of her performances in ZACH Theatre's A Christmas Carol!)
My classes will cover vocal anatomy, vocal and respiratory function, methods of habilitation for vocal issues, kinesthetic techniques for the singer’s voice and more! I am very excited about how the knowledge I gain this summer will benefit my voice students!
(Me with my longtime student, Megan Hudson, last year at the GAHSMTA's, where she performed with the GAHSMTA Select Ensemble! This year will be her third year in the Select Ensemble.)
(Megan Hudson after playing Belle with Kids Acting! I started teaching Megan when she was 12 years old and now she is 18 and about to graduate! I couldn't be more proud of her!)
