Megan, a 35-year-old mom of three, is bravely fighting cancer for the second time—let’s rally around her family so she can focus on healing.
“You have cancer.”
Those words make time stop. But hearing “your cancer is back” just 13 months after ringing the remission bell is something no one should ever have to face.
That’s the reality for my dear friend Megan—a 35-year-old wife, mom of three, and SPED para who adores her students. Megan is one of the kindest and strongest people I know. She doesn’t back down from anything—she’s always been one to write her own story. She’s beaten cancer once already, and I know she has it in her to do it again.
In early August, her PET scan showed 100% remission. Then, on September 30th, she found a lump. By October 4th, scans revealed the unthinkable—her cancer had returned, and this time it’s more aggressive.
After a biopsy and meeting with her oncologist, Megan learned it’s a mutated version of her previous cancer, meaning it won’t respond to the same treatments. But there’s still hope. On October 16th, she began her first of possibly two rounds of intense, 4-day inpatient Salvage Chemotherapy. If her body responds well, she’ll move on to CAR-T Cell Therapy in about 6–8 weeks.
It has to work—because this is it.
Megan had to stop working immediately and won’t return this school year. Unlike her first battle, when treatments mostly took place during summer break and she could collect unemployment, this time her family faces months of treatment and recovery with only her husband Corey’s income. Meanwhile, she and Corey are raising their three amazing kids—10-year-old twins and a 6-year-old—while preparing for a holiday season likely spent in the hospital.
How Your Donations Will Help
Funds donated will be used to:
• Supplement Megan’s lost income
• Cover ongoing medical bills
• Pay off her vehicle to reduce monthly expenses
• Create small adventures for their kids—giving them joyful breaks out of the house and, more importantly, giving Megan time to rest and recover
Megan and Corey have always been the first to show up and support their community. Now it’s our turn to show up for them—bigger and stronger than ever before.
Please help ease their financial burden so they can focus on what truly matters: Megan’s recovery and family.
