On June 3rd, 2025, devastating flash floods tore through our area, leaving destruction in their wake. One of those hardest hit was Megan — a longtime volunteer, foster, and former employee of Beauties. Megan has dedicated her life to saving animals, giving countless dogs and cats a second chance they might never have had without her compassion, skill, and unwavering dedication.

During the flood, Megan’s home was quickly surrounded by rising waters. Within minutes, the water began pouring into the house, eventually reaching chest height before she and her beloved animals — 6 dogs and 3 cats — were rescued by boat. Miraculously, everyone made it out safely, but the damage left behind is extensive.

While insurance will cover some of the repairs to her home, it won't cover everything. Megan’s fence is destroyed and needs complete replacement. Her shop — which also took in floodwater — will require a full remodel. This isn’t just any home; it’s also the safe haven for Queenie, one of Beauties’ longest and most challenging rescues. Queenie lived in boarding for 6 years before Megan opened her heart and home to her. Because Queenie is not dog- or cat-friendly, Megan’s space is carefully arranged to give Queenie the peaceful life she deserves in her golden years.

Megan has always been there for the animals. Now it's our turn to be there for her.
