Megan's Fight Against a Brain Tumor

Well, never did I think that I would be the one asking for help. My parents raised me and my two siblings to be independent and strong-willed. But we are at a point where my family is in need and I have decided we can no longer be afraid or embarrassed to ask for assistance.

On March 1st, we rushed my mother to the hospital. She suddenly was unable to walk, talk, eat, or drink. After being in the emergency room for 14 hours, we learned she had a brain tumor near the front of her brain. A brain tumor that was the size of a grapefruit, continuing to swell and putting significant pressure on her brain at 58 years old. We were absolutely devastated.

She was admitted to the neurology ICU where the nurses have been nothing but amazing. She still cannot walk and her memory has declined, but at least we still have her. She has been able to tell us she loves us and that is the most we can ask for.

Unfortunately, the only medical treatment for her is surgery to attempt to remove the mass. She is without medical insurance (trust me I spent hours on the phone over the last several days trying to remedy the situation, but to no avail) and my father has been the sole provider for several years. He is truly the best man on Earth and would give his shirt off of his back to anyone in need, even without asking. He has cried with her every single morning in the hospital since this has happened, by her side every moment.

We were asked to pay a significant amount of money up front from the neurosurgeon. It pains me to do this but I have slowly learned to put my pride to the side. We cannot do this alone. We are forever grateful for any contribution you can make, we know times are tough. If you unable to financially contribute, just say a little prayer for us. We have a long road ahead, but are hopeful that this is the right step in getting our mom back to who she was. Growing up she used to tell us every day how proud she was of us. We are looking forward to the day where that happens again.

If you or anyone you know are going through something similar, please tell them to reach out. It is an emotional rollercoaster and we would love to be a support system.

Hug your loved ones tight. May God bless you all. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
