As some of you know our dear friend Megan was diagnosed with stage II invasive lobular carcinoma in 2025. With a hope that only a mastectomy was needed she underwent surgery in December only to find out after that more treatment would be recommended as not all the cancer was removed and there is a risk of recurrence. She had her first chemotherapy infusion on Feb 17th and will continue that every 21 days for 4-6 sessions. After that she will undergo 3 weeks of radiation, and then move onto hormone therapy for the next 5+ years.

With unlucky timing Meg had just begun her journey as an on-call elementary school teacher, bringing her unbridled joy and enthusiasm to young students in Vancouver. She finished up her school program at UBC in July and was so excited to start her new career. Unfortunately, she will be unable to work for the next 6 months at least as chemo significantly reduces her immune response and working in classrooms are prime places for getting sick.

These funds raised will be used to cover her basic living expenses including rent, groceries and health costs etc.
