Hello everyone! My name is Megan and I'm raising money for FARE (Food Allergy Research and Education).
When I was about 2, I was diagnosed with a lot food allergies. My parents made sure that I learned what I could and couldn't eat. At birthday parties I wasn't allowed to eat cake and I couldn't eat treats at school celebrations, so my parents always took me afterward to get a different treat that was safe. When I was younger, my family and I participated in some FARE events to raise money for research, and FARE helped my mom and dad figure out how to keep me safe.

Thankfully, as I got older I outgrew some allergies. I am still allergic to peanuts and tree nuts. I know what it's like to be in fear of the next food you eat because you don't know if it will harm you. If I eat a peanut or a tree nut, then my throat will get swollen, I wouldn't be able to breathe, and you might know what would happen next. It sometimes feels helpless, you can't really do anything about it. You have to just trust your instincts and trust other people with your life. I don't want any other kid to feel like that.
The good news is, it might not always be like that! Allergists are looking for a cure, but they need money for technology to continue to research and come to an answer.
In my middle school English class, I am working on a passion project (you have to change the world in some way to make it better). I decided to do food allergies because I have food allergies myself, and I want to see a cure.
Donating to FARE supports food allergy research, which helps kids, teens, and adults who are suffering from food allergies. Your donation would make a big difference. Thank you!
