Megan's Accident Recovery
November 2nd Saturday afternoon my daughter had been in a serious car accident and was rushed to the emergency room via ambulance. I was informed she'd been in and out of consciousness, was T-Boned, and then spun out and hit a pole. Her airbags deployed and her car was totaled in the accident.
I felt like the wind was punched right out of me. When I got to the hospital Dr. David Donahue was kind, comforting, answered all of our questions and told us Megan would need to undergo surgery on her pelvis; due to being it damaged, extremely unstable and needing corrective equipment.
For anyone who knows Megan she has been dancing since before she could walk! The dance program is one of the reasons she chose the University of South Florida to study at and I was already concerned with how this would limit her moving forward.
After surgery and days in the hospital, we were able to take Megan home. However, I, along with the Doctor, had to break some hard news: Megan would need to leave her life in Tampa (her apartment, her 3 jobs and her academics) because she would require in-home assistance for ATLEAST 10 weeks. She would not be able to shower without assistance or put ANY weight down on her lower body. She would have to be given shots in her abdomen every morning and travel in a wheelchair. My strong, independent, 'always-a-silver-lining', dancing queen looked at me, shattered.
Since insurance can only cover so much, your donations will immediately provide for significant medical bills and expenses from emergency transportation, the trauma room, surgery and physical therapy sessions.
Please consider donating; any amount, great or small, would be seriously helpful to my daughter. My family thanks you in advance for your support and prayers and for taking the time to read this post.
