Megan Fulcher's Healing Fund!

Our dear friend Megan Fulcher’s world was completely changed Thursday night (March 25th) after receiving the results of an MRI.  Megan had been experiencing increased health issues over the past few weeks, resulting in having a CAT Scan followed by an MRI.  Megan was diagnosed with Glioblastoma – a golf ball size tumour behind her right eye that had travelled to the left side.  Her surgeon Dr. Matanaj identified surgery was needed to remove as much of the tumor as he safely could. On the morning of Tuesday, March 30th, Megan was on the operating table and made it through several hours of surgery.  On April 1st, the surgeon and Megan phoned her family and reported he was able to cut out a large portion of the tumour but not all of it.

Megan came home on April 2nd, 2021 and is recovering from her operation and awaiting the next steps.  Currently, the plan is for Megan to have chemo and radiation, which will occur in Kelowna.  Living in Merritt, each trip will have expenses that Megan and her family will have to incur.

Megan is the most beautiful soul and has endured so much so far, and this is just the beginning.  It will be at least a year before her medical team will start to assess if she will be able to work again.  In the last 8 years, Megan has worked for Nicola Family Therapy, providing counselling to survivors of trauma and violence.  In June 2020, Megan made the move to Interior Health, where she continued to provide counselling and support to members of the Merritt Community up until 2 weeks prior to her diagnosis and surgery.

Megan and her family are well known in Merritt and if you meet any of them on the street, you are welcomed with smiles and genuine care.  Megan has the most generous heart and gives of herself selflessly.  If you met her and you were cold, she would not hesitate to give you the jacket off her back.  Our hope with this Go Fund Me page is to raise money to help Megan with any additional medical costs associated with appointments, chemo and radiation, and alternative health care practitioners and services that can help in her healing.  In continuing to fight this battle and heal, any financial support would help reduce some of the additional stressors she has before her.
