If you have the privilege of knowing Megan Flinn, you know the sincerity with which she puts into everything that she does, and that is usually for others. She has made her mark on everyone that she has graced with her teaching, her smile, her beautiful singing, the sacred space that she has created at 1.1 and 1.2, the community element she cultivates, her damn good pretzel-making skills, wonderful chef talents, the perfect drink order or home-made cocktail, graceful and methodical hands in an assist or massage, Jerome (enough said) and countless other ways. Megan is the strongest person we all know. Megan needs our help.
Unfortunately this June, Megan was diagnosed with Stage 1 squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue- oral cancer. It was found on her tongue and after a routine biopsy, it was discovered to be malignant. On June 25th, Megan will undergo surgery to remove a portion of her tongue and the lymph nodes in the right side of her neck. Due to the severity of the surgery and the portion of her tongue needing to be removed, she will require physical and speech therapy for the coming month(s). While Megan will fully recover and hope to remain cancer free, it will take a bit for her to be back to herself.
How you can help:
Megan would never ask for help, in fact, I and her other beloveds had to strongly encourage that she allow us to financially support her in her recovery. Megan, as a business owner, does not have disability, paid time off, the best insurance plan that corporations can offer, and will still be paying her employees, rent and business expenses while she is in recovery. If you are interested in helping Megan, please do consider a donation of any size here. Any dollar amount is helpful and truly appreciated!
A few wishes:
First, Please do not post this on any social media, but feel free to forward to a friend or friends that would like to support Megan. If others ask you how they can support her, please send them here.
Second, The power of prayer, mantra, manifestation are all powerful and just as important.
Third, please respect Megan's privacy at home during her recovery so that she can become her strongest self as quickly as possible.
Fourth, Megan will be back and thriving! This is part of Megan's story, but is not her whole story. She looks forward to teaching, singing, working and playing again in the near term.
Bless you all,
Alexandra
