This past holiday season was incredibly tough for my mom. Around Christmas, she became very sick with what doctors initially dismissed as norovirus. But as weeks passed, her condition only worsened. By February, she could barely walk or speak. Despite being discharged on Valentine’s Day, she still wasn’t improving. When she returned to the ER, they discovered a small and large bowel obstruction. She was quickly placed on an NG tube and PICC line before being transferred to a specialized hospital due to the severity of her case.
The very next day, she underwent emergency surgery, where doctors had to remove her entire colon—it had become necrotic and was dying. She had already lost 40 pounds and was in critical condition. Thankfully, she made it through surgery, and she is now recovering in the hospital, working with physical therapy to regain her strength and independence.
My mom has spent her life raising and caring for her eight children, always putting her family first. Now, she faces a long road to recovery, and we want to do everything we can to support her. Unfortunately, the medical bills from her extended hospital stay and emergency surgery are overwhelming, and the expenses have only piled up while she has been unable to work. Even once she is discharged, she will still need time to heal before she can return to work.
We are asking for any help, big or small, to ease the financial burden on her while she focuses on healing. Every donation, share, and kind word means the world to our family. Thank you for your support in helping my mom get back home to the people who love her most.
