Hi, my name is Shannon Hamel and I am helping Megan raise money to be able to compete in a rodeo at the end of October. Here is Megan's letter to let you know her dreams and history.

I'm writing to ask for financial support to be able to enter the barrel race at the Xtreme Las Vegas Fall Classic at the end of October 2023. I’m a junior in high school. I have been on the Honor Roll of Distinction since 5th grade. I am employed at an accounting firm, and a horse training facility. I also play basketball and soccer but rodeo is my favorite activity and my true passion.

The barrel race in Las Vegas will help me tremendously with my future.This experience will help me prepare for bigger and even more prestigious races. By adding this race to my resume, it could help me get a rodeo scholarship to college. I plan on studying either veterinary medicine or getting an accounting degree. By getting a rodeo scholarship, I would be able to do what I love during college while also helping me earn a degree to be successful in my future career.

I have been barrel racing and competing in various equine events since I was eight and started competing in the adult class when I was 12. I have done everything from jumping, cutting, breakaway roping, showing horses, pole bending, ranch sorting and goat tying. But my true passion and love is barrel racing.

I was on my high school rodeo team my freshman year but I could not continue my sophomore year because we did not have the financial resources. I hope to compete in the high school rodeos again either this year or my senior year.

I love to compete at any level, but as I get older, I know it would be beneficial to race in higher level competitions against better riders. I know more experience can only help my horses and me become better competitors.

The funds I hope to raise on this GoFundMe page will go toward the barrel race this October. The money will help with the transportation of my family and horses. This money will also help pay for boarding and food for us and the horses, as well as, the entry fees for the classes I would like to enter (Open 4D, Youth and Extreme Race). These entry fees are for both my horses, Justa and Tebow, who we would like to take this year. Each horse is good in different events.
