Megan and I met in December of 2013 after I moved to the US from Australia for work. Over the following months and years, we grew as friends, then as partners, fell in love and committed to each other as only a couple can be. As anyone will attest, we have become inseperable, some say insufferable, as we can't be in the same room and not holding hands and, to the chargrin of our friends, kissing in public. We have traveled together both in the US and overseas and that passion for travel is still as strong today as it always has been. I can't imagine traveling and exploring the world without her.
In 2016 we traveled to Brazil to celebrate New Years Eve in Rio de Janeiro with a group of friends. While we had a place to stay in Rio for the entire time, Megan and I headed to Ilha Grande. It was while we were there, we decided to get married. But we didn't want to do the traditional thing, that's just not us as a couple.
On Saturday 28th of Janurary 2017, in an intimate ceremony with close friends, Megan and I were married by one of my dearest friends. Things were looking so positive. We were overjoyed. Then, on the 1st of February, I and about 100 other people from my company were laid off. With the prospect of us living on a single income, legal fees that could mount to $10,000 and me unable to work till I get my work authorisation, we could use your help.
So rather than wedding gifts (let's be honest, we both came together with a house full of goods and appliances) we could use some cash. Our plan is to use the money for legal and Government fees (government alone comes to about $2,500).
While I am not able to work, I plan on giving back to the community that I have adopted and who thankfully has adopted me. So anyone knowing of volunteer opportunities, please let me know.
