Megan Crowe Cancer Cure Odyssey-Mission Possible

Donation protected

This is my friend Megan Crowe, age 33, mother of Charlie age 4 and William age 2 and wife of Jamie.

She has been silently fighting for her life.
Yes.....CANCER.....it is an ugly word and a harsh reality for our Megan.
In 2017, Megan, a teacher on her second maternity leave, while nursing her 8 month old son noticed a lump in her breast. Thinking this was related to hormones and breast feeding Megan focused on her young family and busy life. THE LUMP DID NOT GO AWAY.
In February of 2018, Megan’s cancer diagnosis became a harsh reality.
ROUND 1: Diagnosis- Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Triple Positive
Treatment- 6 rounds of Chemotherapy
mastectomy
20 rounds of radiation

This was year one. A complete lifestyle change, modified diet, exercise, and a positive holistic approach ensued. Megan’s focus on being her best healthy self for her and her family was working. She looked forward to having energy, quality time with her family and getting her life back to a new normal. LIFE WAS GOOD!
.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Or so she thought......

Fast forward to August 2019. Megan was excited to finally be back teaching , sharing her knowledge with children and looking forward to bringing home a pay check again.

While undergoing a routine ultrasound for an ongoing gallstone issue....spots on her liver were noted. A CT scan followed.
She had just been back to teaching for 2 days.....
The CT scan confirmed that the cancer had metastasized to her liver and possibly her lungs.
Shock and fear gave way to a bleak realization. NOW WHAT?!? Unable to work, therefore no pay check, no benefits, knowing first hand the costs this disease has both emotionally and financially and having been down this road once already....the reality of what lay ahead was overwhelming.

Back to the Cross Cancer Institute.

ROUND 2: Diagnosis-Estrogen Positive & Progesterone Negative with
Mets to liver & possible Mets to lung & sacrum
Treatment- 6 MORE rounds of chemotherapy
There was a decrease in tumor size in November on 2019 and the families hopes and prayers seemed to be working as did Megan’s clean healthy lifestyle and positive attitude. As Megan’s Mom said “ Megan is the toughest, bravest person I know.”
Megan (33) Jamie (40) Charlie (4) William (2) and Dash (the dog) are a loving, caring and optimistic family. They are surrounded by an amazing network of supportive family and friends .

They have tried to do this on their own and to date have managed. Going from a 2 income household to a 1 income household has been a challenge and every resource has been utilized.
Round 2 chemotherapy was completed on December 26, 2019.
AND.......unfortunately in January 2020 another scan revealed a tumor size INCREASE.
The Cross Cancer has been good but Megan and Jamie have 2 young children that NEED their “MOMMY”.

So the DECISION has been made to pursue treatment elsewhere and THE SOONER THE BETTER!

The ENVITA MEDICAL CENTER in Scottsdale Arizona has helped thousands of patients with late stage cancer discover targeted treatment options through advanced integrative personalized medicine. This is via advanced genetic testing and genetically targeted fractionated chemo and treatment protocols. This is an INTENSIVE daily treatment program requiring Megan to be present 5 days per week and several hours per day.
The family will be required to live in the area full time for a minimum of 3-4 months. Estimated cost for treatment and living expenses is $250,000. Canadian.
Testing and Treatment -$200,000.
Living expenses-$50,000
This would include insurances, rent, transportation , airfare, food, and documentation requirements for the family of 4.

When the family heard the cost....they were stunned, overwhelmed and scared. They realized that they could not do this alone and needed HELP!
AND THIS IS WHERE YOU.....our family, friends, neighbours , acquaintances , local businesses, radio stations, newspapers, fellow humans and community come in.

WE NEED YOUR HELP.....
Megan’s Mission continues.....

There is no easy way to put it...without treatment........ our Megan’s time on this earth is limited.

Only YOU can help pave a path of healing and hope for Megan and her family.
By your DONATIONS, the sharing of Megan’s story and the increased awareness that other cancer treatment options exist out there.
We ask of you these 3 things:

1-GIVE-whatever you can( NO donation is TOO small)
2-SHARE- on your social media pages
3-EMAIL- this GoFundMe to all your contacts.

As Megan’s mother and my good friend Charlotte (Althiem) Miller said....
“We are asking for HELP, anyway and any amount you can. We pray that no one will ever have to face a situation like this. I say enjoy life and love those around. Let the little problems go, as they are nothing when faced with a health situation that is this serious. Love one another.”

We have set up a Donation Trust Account at ATB Financial in Stony Plain, Alberta.

All funds donated will be transferred by family friend Shannon Sambell and deposited to the ATB Trust  Account in Megans name.
