Hello everyone! My sister and I are creating this GoFundMe on behalf of our middle sister, Megan. Megan graduated with her bachelor's in Early Childhood Education in December of 2021. During her first semester as a kindergarten teacher in Austin, she was diagnosed with stage 3 squamous cell carcinoma. Immediately following her diagnosis, she was let go from her teaching job. Losing her job meant losing her health insurance, causing her to pay out of pocket for COBRA to cover her treatment (chemo, radiation, and neck dissection surgery).

In July of 2023, she finished treatment and entered remission. Devastatingly, just months after clear scans and her 2-year remission anniversary, a spot had formed again. It has come back as stage 2 squamous cell carcinoma. She is currently going to MD Anderson in Houston for treatment. This time around, they are trying a more targeted approach consisting of immunotherapy/chemo, a clinical trial, and then glossectomy surgery. While going through treatment, she will be unable to work and without income.

We are creating this GoFundMe to help raise funds to not only help cover the cost of her treatment but to also help her keep her life and home she’s fought so hard for in Austin. We love you, Meg, and let’s kick cancer's ass for the final time!
