Meg & Walker’s Surrogacy Journey
Donation protected
As most of you know, Meg was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder, Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH), in high school. Since her freshman year in college (and for the foreseeable future), Meg is on two immunotherapy medications that are intravenously administered. Due to the severity of PNH and the immunotherapy medications, Meg is unable to safely carry a pregnancy without the chance of life-threatening complications for her and the baby.
We always knew we wanted to have a family, but understood that a traditional pregnancy was not in the cards for us. Therefore, we decided to start the journey towards surrogacy, and we signed with a wonderful surrogacy agency, Conceivabilities. Meg recently completed two rounds of IVF and we have healthy embryos ready for transfer!
Surrogacy is an expensive endeavor. There is a lot of work that goes into surrogacy, not only the obvious burden placed on the gestational surrogate, but the countless hours of work by the surrogacy agency to ensure a successful match. In total, our surrogacy journey will cost ~$235,000. Some of the expenses include:
- IVF Rounds
- Agency Fees for Conceivabilities
- Fertility Clinic Costs Associated with Embryo Transfer
- Health, Disability and Life Insurance for Surrogate
- Surrogate Compensation and Travel Costs
- Pre- and Post-Natal Care
- Legal Fees Associated with Parentage and Surrogacy Contract
- Miscellaneous Expenses
Currently, we are in the matching phase. We committed our savings and home equity to cover the IVF rounds and initial agency fee for Conceivabilities. Consequently, we are trying to figure out how to cover the remaining costs. We are turning to our friends and family for additional support. Any gift you could bestow is greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and consider supporting us during this exciting (but stressful!) time.
