On our anniversary, October 26, 2022, exactly 8 years after getting married and 10 years after our first date we heard the words “Early Onset Parkinsons” for the first time. The official diagnosis came on Jan. 6. But we already knew. Since then it's been a whirlwind of emotions but the pervasive feeling is being terrified of a future that is so unknown. People ask me how I'm doing and most of the time I respond with “I’m adequate.” But that’s simply not true, I am far from adequate. However, I’m pretty sure people don’t really ask wanting to know the truth. They ask because they don’t know what else to do and they ask as a way to show that they care. Luckily Stephanie and I have so many people who love and care about us and I have had so many people reach out with offers of help and support. Unfortunately, I’m stubborn and proud and would rather pretend everything is ok and we don’t need anything, but we do. As many of you know Stephanie has a dog Finlee that she has been training to be her service dog. He was supposed to help her with her Panic and Agoraphobia disorders but now she will need him even more. At times walking is difficult for her and she often has balance problems. He can be trained to help with that. Unfortunately, Stephanie no longer has the strength and stamina to continue to train Finlee herself and we simply cannot afford to get him trained and this is where we need your help. We also need to make sure Stephanie stays as active as possible, it is the only way to slow this terrible disease. To this end we are moving to Long Beach, a town much more on the move than Corona, and would like to get Stephanie a motorized trike. With the trike she can pedal away, stay moving and be out and about as much as possible but not get stuck if her energy gets too zapped unexpectedly. But motorized trikes are also far beyond our financial reach. Long Beach also offers better medical care for Stephanie. If you have the means and would like to help me make sure Stephanie has the best and longest life possible, it would mean a lot! ❤️ Meg
