Hello, my name is Gail Lichtensteiger and I want to share the inspiring story of the Suhthyn Family whom I’ve know for the past seven years. Originating from Myanmar, they journeyed through a refugee camp in Malaysia before settling in Canada. Their unwavering work ethic, self reliance and community contributions showcase their incredible spirit.

This close-knit family of five, consisting of two daughters and a young son , recently achieved their dream and moved into a modest condo of their own. Shortly after however, life took an unexpected turn and in mid-October their 12-year-old daughter was hospitalized for two weeks, leading to Mom missing work. And then in late November, a trip to the emergency room for Dad resulted in the removal of a large cancerous tumour. Now facing extensive chemotherapy, Dad won’t be able to work for months.

Despite mom taking on two jobs, the family is struggling to meet their mortgage and other payments. Let’s come together to support them and ensure their dream of home ownership doesn’t slip away. Any contribution, big or small , will be immensely appreciated. This will provide a bridge to get them to the other side of this terrible health crisis they are navigating as a family.
