Meet Matt, Michelle and their Family

Meet Matt.

A- Alturistic and Adoring husband and father of 5.

T- Talented artist.

T - Tough as nails.

 

He is a wonderful husband, father and friend and possesses one of the most generous spirits I have ever encountered. The last 2 weeks has been a difficult one for the Wenge family. Matt is very sick - and his family needs us, his friends and his family, more than ever.

 

Matt started this difficult journey in October. He wasn't feeling well and went to urgent care.  After seeing several different doctors, and having many tests nothing was found.  They thought this must be a gallbladder issue.  He had surgery and had the gallbladder out and it wasn't that.   

 

Just over two weeks ago, Matt was hospitalized with a blockage to his bile duct system and had a stint placed in that duct to release that blockage. The medical staff discovered an alarming mass around his pancreas. Days of tests followed along with another surgery, and we discovered that Matt has a very late-stage form of aggressive pancreatic cancer, which has metastasized into his bowel, liver, and lungs. He was sent home so he could start treatment.  Within 24 hours, he was back in the hospital with a sepsis infection.  He beat that and came home again.  It is with a heavy heart I tell you, he had to start hospice instead of treatment. There is nothing left to do but cherish time with family and celebrate this wonderful man. Matt and Michelle have five beautiful children they adopted on December 20th out of foster care-they were able to keep five siblings together.  The have wonderful friends and people to support them; but financial pressures are mounting due to Matt's situation. Michelle has largely been unable to work while she cares for Matt at the moment.  He also provides all the health insurance for the family.

 

This family is so generous. I can speak to this personally, as they have taken care of me in my times of greatest need. Now, they need us.
