Do you know that fake and substandard medications kill over half a million Sub-saharan Africans annually?

With Nigeria having the largest open drug market in West Africa, circulation of fake/substandard medicines and vaccines has become our daily reality. Over 200,000 pregnant mothers bleed to death from Post-partum hemorrhage, despite being administered oxytocin doses, as 2 out 4 oxytocin brands have been found to be substandard.

To solve this critical problem, we are designing the AI-powered Medvax mobile app. This app empowers patients and healthcare providers by offering four key features: barcode scanning, batch number verification, geolocation tracking and smart last mile logistics.

Users can order their medications and scan the barcode on a medication package to access comprehensive information about the product, including its origin, manufacturing date, and expiration date. Batch number verification ensures that each medication is genuine, while geolocation tracking provides real-time visibilityf into the drug's journey from manufacturer to end-user.

Winning the Bechangemaker Pitch battle will provide us the needed funds to launch our app and put it the hands of millions of Nigerians who need it the most.
