Hi, my name is Marc. I am one of a group of friends raising funds for costly medication for our friend Damon Haydu. He is fighting cancer and liver failure. As his other medications have diminishing effectiveness his doctors have recommended another medication, Rifaximin, to treat his Hepatic encephalopathy. In simple terms, this medication can prolong his mental clarity and quality of life by removing toxins from his blood. We are looking to raise enough for three months of this medication, which costs around $2000 per month (with insurance). We already have $1200 raised in a separate dog walking fund; this is being appropriated for this fund to help buy his first month of Rifaximin today. As one of his dog walking volunteers I’d say that’s money well spent. That leaves $4800 to help him get the treatment that can help him enjoy more time with his daughter, his family and friends.
