My name is Justin Sheppard. I am a Biological Sciences/Pre-Med student at the University of Southern California. This winter I will be traveling to a community in Peru, through an organization known as MEDLIFE. MEDLIFE works to combat poverty and the unequal access to healthcare around the world. The organization gives the opportunity for students, like myself, to travel to different impoverished Latin American communities to volunteer in mobile clinics. As a volunteer, I will work closely with medical professionals on the Clinic, work on a community development project, and generally help out however I can! In these mobile clinics, we will also provide health screenings to the locals of the areas that we visit. Furthermore, MEDLIFE understands that volunteering in these clinics are only temporary fixes. Therefore, we also focus on sustainability projects like building staircases and water delivery systems to further help the community.
