"Love the world. Work hard."

On New Year's Eve 1999, as a junior in high school, Miel Ashley Medley wrote those five words in a letter to herself and placed it in a time capsule to be opened 20 years later. 

As you might be able to tell from her beautifully simple "note to self," Miel was one of the kindest people you’d ever have the pleasure of knowing. Her friends and family remember her for her deep-rooted love of mysteries, fashion, history, vintage clothing and writing.

We honor the ways she relentlessly encouraged others and her ever-giving heart by offering a scholarship to a young writer graduating from her alma mater, B. Reed Henderson High School in West Chester, PA. We endeavor to raise this money and award it to students who share Miel's passion for writing and uphold the legacy of the advice she gave herself all those years ago.

Our hope is to offer at least five years worth of scholarships in the amount of $1250 per year. With your generosity, you honor Miel's memory and you help young people follow in her (fashionably heeled) footsteps.
