Ik zamel geld in voor Petra en Juan Mario in Guatemala. Petra is na onze studie verhuisd naar Guatemala vanwege de liefde. Begin dit jaar kregen wij het blije bericht dat Petra zwanger was van een tweeling, twee meiden. Na een voorspoedige 8 maanden werd Petra verkouden, dit bleek Covid te zijn. Twee dagen voor de geplande geboortedatum was er nog een goede echo, maar de dag voor de geplande keizersnede was het hartje van één van de meiden, Hilda Maria, helaas niet meer te horen. Met spoed zijn ze naar het ziekenhuis gegaan waar helaas bleek dat Hilda Maria was overleden en werd stil geboren. Het andere meisje, Hilda Isabel, is met spoed gehaald, gereanimeerd, en ligt momenteel op de intensive care in het ziekenhuis.

Hilda Isabel is op 9 augustus geboren met het Fetal Inflammatory Syndrome, als gevolg van de covid die Petra opliep aan het einde van de zwangerschap. Hierdoor zijn alle belangrijke organen opgezwollen, zoals het hartje, de darmen, de nieren en de longen. Ze is meteen op de intensive care terechtgekomen aan allerlei slangen en apparaten, en heeft een kritische periode doorgemaakt. Op 11 augustus is er een geperforeerde darm vastgesteld, waaraan ze geopereerd is. Op precies datzelfde moment waren Petra en Juan Mario op de begraafplaats om Hilda Maria te begraven, ze is bijgezet in het grafje van haar grote broer Rafael.

De afgelopen dagen zijn een rollercoaster geweest voor Petra en Juan Mario, en ook voor Samuel, de 3-jarige broer. Behalve de gezondheid van Hilda Isabel en het verlies van Hilda Maria, zijn er ook financiele zaken te regelen.

Hilda Isabel ligt in een privéziekenhuis, en er is een zorgverzekering. De rekening loopt schrikbarend snel op, en Petra en Juan Mario moeten sowieso een percentage van de rekening zelf betalen als eigen bijdrage. Helaas doet de verzekering ook moeilijk over het vergoeden van een aantal kostenposten, waardoor de rekening voor hen blijft oplopen.

De behandelend arts, de neonatoloog, heeft een collega die hem helpt om bij Isabel te zijn, maar ook mee te denken qua behandelplan en om te sparren met ideeën. Maar de verzekering zegt dat er maar 1 arts per specialiteit gedekt wordt, dus het salaris van die collega moeten Petra en Juan Mario uit eigen zak betalen.

Ook bepaalde laboratorium testen en medicijnen vallen niet in de polis, er waren kosten voor de begrafenis van Hilda Maria (ruim €800) die niet verzekerd worden, en de ziekenhuisrekening stond op 19 augustus op Q113.000 (€15000), en dat is nog zonder de salarissen van de 8 specialisten op de lijst (cardioloog, nutritionist, anesthesisten, infectologe, kinderchirurg en assistenten).

Het enige wat we op dit moment vanuit Nederland voor ze kunnen doen is ze helpen met de medische kosten en die last hopelijk met hulp van anderen wat te verlichten, vandaar deze Gofundme.

Estoy reuniendo fondos para Petra y Juan Mario en Guatemala. Petra se mudó a Guatemala por el amor después de terminar sus estudios. A principios de este año nos llegó la alegre noticia que Petra estaba esperando dos niñas gemelas. Tras un embarazo tranquilo de 8 meses Petra se contagió de Covid y 2 dias antes del nacimiento planificado, tuvo el ultimo control con un buen ultrasonido. El día antes de la cesárea programada desafortunadamente a una de las niñas, Hilda Maria, ya no le latía su corazón, por lo que se llevó a cabo la cesárea y resultó que Hilda Maria había fallecido. Su hermanita Hilda Isabel, fue reanimada, y en este momento se encuentra en cuidados intensivos en el hospital.

Hilda Isabel nació el 9 de Agosto con el Síndrome Inflamatorio Fetal, como consecuencia del Covid que padeció su mama. De ello se inflamaron todos los órganos importantes. Ha pasado por un período muy crítico en cuidado intensivo, lo cual se agravó al detectar una perforación en el intestino de lo que ya fue operada. Al momento de la operación, Petra y Juan Mario estaban en el cementerio, enterrando a Hilda Maria, en el nicho junto a su hermano mayor Rafael a quien tristemente les tocó enterrar 7 años atrás.

Los últimos dias han sido una montaña rusa para Petra, Juan Mario y Samuel, su hermanito de 3 años. Aparte de las preocupaciones por la salud de Hilda Isabel y la perdida de Hilda Maria, tambien hay asuntos financieros que arreglar.

Hilda Isabel está en un hospital privado, y hay un seguro medico. Sin embargo, la cuenta está subiendo rápidamente, del cual se debe pagar un porcentaje como pago propio. Desafortunadamente el seguro no cubre ciertos gastos, que hace que la cuenta para Petra y Juan Mario aun sube mas.

El medico neonatólogo, tiene una colega que lo apoya con el tratamiento de Hilda Isabel, el seguro únicamente cubrirá un porcentaje de los honorarios del Neonatólogo por lo que los honorarios de la otra doctora sí deberán ser pagados totalmente por sus papas. Adicionalmente deben pagar exámenes de laboratorio y medicamentos que no entran en la póliza.

Tambien ciertos exámenes de laboratorio y medicamentos no entran en la póliza, hubo gastos por el entierro de Hilda Maria (Q8.000) que no se cubren, y el 23 de Agosto la cuenta hospitalaria estaba en Q145,000, sin contar los honorarios de los 14 especialistas en la lista (cardiologo, nutricionista, anestesiólogos, infectologa, cirujana pediatra y asistentes). Aun no sabemos si todo eso tendrá consecuencias a largo plazo para Hilda Isabel, tanto a nivel fisco como cerebral. Todavía tiene pendiente una cirugía para reconstruir los intestinos. Por lo que es necesario estar preparados para los gastos que requiera.

Lo único que podemos hacer desde Holanda en este momento es ayudarles. Hemos iniciado esta campaña para solicitar su apoyo para cubrir el tratamiento de Hilda Isabel y que pueda tener la calidad de vida que sus papas añoran para ella y que merece, por lo que solicitamos su ayuda con lo que les sea posible para que nos puedan apoyar con esta causa. Hemos pasado por momentos muy tristes y dolorosos, y la carga financiera de este tema nos complica poder tomar las mejores decisiones para ella y su futuro. I am raising funds for Petra and Juan Mario in Guatemala. Petra moved to Guatemala for love, after finishing her tourism studies. At the start of 2024 we received the happy news that Petra was expecting twins, two girls. After 8 favorable months of pregnancy, Petra got a cold, this turned out to be covid. Two days before the planned birth she got a check-up with a good ultrasound, but the day before the planned c-section, unfortunately there was no heartbeat for one of the girls, Hilda Maria. They rushed to the hospital, where the girl was stillborn. The other girl, Hilda Isabel, was delivered quickly, they performed CPR on her, and is in the intensive care unit at the moment.

Hilda Isabel was born on August 9th with Fetal Inflammatory Syndrome, as a consequence of the covid that Petra had at the end of the pregnancy. This means that all important organs are swollen, such as the heart, intestines, kidneys, and lungs. She was taken immediately to the intensive care unit, connected to all kinds of tubes and machines, and she has gone through a critical period. On August 11th they detected a perforated intestine, which required surgery. At exactly that same moment, Petra and Juan Mario were at the cemetery burying Hilda Maria, in the little grave together with her big brother Rafael, who they sadly buried 7 years ago.

The last days have been a rollercoaster for Petra and Juan Mario, and also for Samuel, the 3-year-old brother. Besides the worries about Hilda Isabel´s health and the loss of Hilda Maria, there are also financial matters to attend.

Hilda Isabel is in a private hospital, and there is a medical insurance. However, the bill is increasing quickly, and Petra and Juan Mario have to pay a percentage of this bill, from their own pocket. Unfortunately, the insurance is also giving them a hard time covering certain costs, which only makes the bill for them increases even more.

The main doctor, the neonatologist, has a colleague who is helping him with Isabel, while also thinking about the options for the treatment plan and brainstorming. But the insurance says that only 1 doctor per specialism is covered, so the salary of this colleague has to be paid in full by Petra and Juan Mario.

Also, certain lab tests and medications are not covered in the policy, there were costs for the funeral of Hilda Isabel (just over $1,000) that aren´t covered, and the hospital bill on August 23rd was about Q145,000 ($19,000), and that is without the salaries of the 14 specialists on the list so far (cardiologist, nutritionist, anesthesiologist, infectologist, pediatric surgeon, and assistants, etc.). We also don´t know yet if all this has consequences for Hilda Isabel in the longer term, both physically and mentally/intellectually. She also needs another surgery to reconstruct the intestines. So they need to be prepared for possibly more expenditures to come in the future.

The only thing we can do from the Netherlands now is to help them with the medical costs, and relieve that burden, hopefully with the help of others. That is why we started this Gofundme.
