Hello everyone! Thank you for taking the time to visit my GoFundMe page.
I have been officially accepted to Far Eastern University Medical School in the Philippines! The program is internationally recognized and California State Board accredited. While my parents are struggling to help with tuition and living expenses, the location prevents me from obtaining student loans.
I need help with the following additional costs:
6,000 USD foreign student fee
270 USD documentation and student visa fees
1,500 USD for Tuberculosis, Rabies, Typhoid, and Japanese encephalitis vaccinations
About the program:
The program is an intensive 4 year traditional medical school education. It has one of the highest pass rates for the United States Medical Licensing Board Exam, and is one of the strongest programs in the Philippines. They have examinations every week and class is from 7am to 5pm Mon-Sat. There is a strong support system for foreign students and classes are taught in English.
Why you should support me and this opportunity:
The World Health Organization is a specialized unit of the United Nations that provides global health education and assistance. My goal is to become a physician and join this organization.
I have completely uprooted my life in order to pursue this opportunity. I have worked 3 jobs, given up my pets, my car, and my belongings because I truly believe I can really make a difference. This education means everything to me, and I am willing to give it my all. This endeavor will help me establish a global identity to help people on a large scale. I believe in myself and am asking you to believe in me, too.
Your donation will help me fill the financial gap I need to make this dream a reality.
Thank you for reading the full content of my page, and for any assistance that you can provide. If you are unable to help me financially, I would really appreciate if you could share the link.
My Education and History:
I completed my undergraduate work at California State University East Bay and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science and a specialization in Physiology.
While attending school, and for a year after graduation, I worked as a Wildlife Intern for the East Bay Regional Park District. While doing research on Clostridium botulinum (botulism), and its effect on the wildlife population, I was tasked with determining the causation factors for the bacterial toxin and to attempt to determine a solution for the epidemic. During my internship, I was taught how to conduct necropsy on wildlife, and integrated the collection and dissection of deceased wildlife into my job responsibilities. I was promoted to a Wildlife Biologist and accepted the opportunity to take over the Water Sciences Intern job responsibilities, as well.
While at the Park District, much of my free time was spent volunteering, including at Sulphur Creek Wildlife Hospital. I worked with an incredible team in the rehabilitation of thousands of animals, many of which I had rescued at work. I helped the staff with many medical procedures and clinical findings.
I also volunteered at Three Ring Ranch Exotic Animal Sanctuary on the Big Island. Here I was given my first experience with surgery, was shown how to administer anesthesia to cats, and assisted with a Spay and Release program.
My preparation for a career as a medical doctor started after I graduated with my degree. I constantly utilized the skills I had developed at school in my work and volunteer opportunities.
My work fostered a fascination with medicine and a love of science. I look forward to a chance to express my capacity for knowledge and passion for learning.
